FIFA’s Quality Concept for Football Turf announces four new Preferred Producers
World football´s governing body FIFA has today announced that four of its FIFA Quality Concept for Football Turf (FQC Football Turf) Licensees have qualified as a 'FIFA Preferred Producer for Football Turf'. The companies Fieldturf Inc, Polytan STI, Saltex Oy and TEAM Sports thus bring the total number of elite FIFA Preferred Producers up to nine since the scheme’s introduction in 2009.
The FIFA Quality Concept for Football Turf aims to set and manage the industry standard for the production and installation of artificial football turf fields around the world. Its FIFA Preferred Producer initiative further ensures that artificial football turf fields globally meet the highest requirements in terms of quality, performance and safety according to the needs of the end-user.
With these four new companies on board, more than two-thirds of all current FIFA RECOMMENDED fields will have been installed by a FIFA Preferred Producer.
Commenting on the announcement, FIFA’s Director of Marketing Thierry Weil said: “The FIFA Preferred Producer initiative is a significant step in protecting the interests of consumers purchasing artificial football pitches and ultimately the players who will enjoy them. With these four new companies on board, more than two-thirds of all current FIFA RECOMMENDED fields will have been installed by a FIFA Preferred Producer.”
In order for artificial turf manufacturers to be classed as a Preferred Producer, they must already be an established FQC Football Turf Licensee, as well as having demonstrated the capacity to meet a number of stringent criteria. These companies extend their services beyond the traditional supplier role by continually working on improving their client servicing as well as the excellence of their products and installation procedures. They take full responsibility for the entire installation process, having in-house capacities for the civil engineering, project management and maintenance service required for top-quality playing fields in any football turf project.
Primarily due to the great efforts of the established Preferred Producers ACT Global Sports, Desso Sports Systems, Edel Grass, Greenfields and Limonta Sport, the number of FIFA RECOMMENDED fields worldwide has more than doubled since 2009 (350 fields in 2009 to over 800 fields in 2011), which is clear evidence of the initiative’s success.
